The Best Places to Visit Near Ingoldmells

places to visit near Ingoldmells

The Lincolnshire coast is full of fun and unknown little places! Whether you want to explore villages around Ingoldmells, nature reserves, or interesting places to relax, there are plenty of places to visit near Ingoldmells that you can enjoy exploring. We will look at the best seven places to go that people may not consider.

Chapel St. Leonards

Chapel St. Leonards is a small village along the Lincolnshire coast, not that far from Ingoldmells. It’s a popular holiday destination, because of its quieter beaches and dog-friendly places to go. The village has plenty to do, such as traditional arcades, cycling routes, and a nature reserve. If you fancy cycling, you can cycle along the promenade with its flat path. You can also visit Wolla Bank Pit Nature Reserve, this is brilliant for bird watching! It’s quite quiet, making it a lovely place to visit if you want time away from the main strip of Ingoldmells.

Chapel St. Leonards Beach is a great place to go, as it’s not as busy as Ingoldmells or Skegness Beach. If you still want to enjoy the beach but like the quiet, then this is the place to go. It has long stretches of beach where you can relax and take your dog.

There are also plenty of cafes you can go to if you’re feeling like a light bite to eat. We recommend the Beach Cafe, Ace Bakes Village Teahouse, and Trunch Cafe and Restaurant. Additionally, there are plenty of restaurants if you want to have a larger meal. A few key ones are La Piazza Restaurant, which has a range of Italian-inspired dishes; Marina Fish and Chips, and Il Gusto.

Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve

Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve is a large reserve of untouched coastline that runs south from the edge of Skegness, it runs about 3 miles. Going to the nature reserve is fantastic, as you get to see large amounts of wildlife that live in the area. You get to explore the coastline peacefully, and there are plenty of different trails that take you around the coastline, so you don’t have to follow anybody if you don’t want to!

There is also a cafe and gift shop in the visitor centre. This makes a good day out, whether you’re a family or a couple who love to explore the local wildlife. They also hold events throughout the year that will help you learn more about the animals that live there.

Burgh Le Marsh

Burgh Le Marsh is a small market town near the Lincolnshire coast. Although this isn’t along the coastline and has no beaches, there are still plenty of things to do! You can visit Gunby Hall, this is an 18th Century Victorian house, that also has 8 acres of walled gardens as well as a traditional tearoom. This beautiful house will take you back in time, perfect for fans of period dramas or history buffs. If you’re a family, couple or friends this is a great place to visit and enjoy the local history.

There are also plenty of shops to visit as well. While you’re there, why not take a moment to have a meal at the Fleece Inn? Serving traditional pub classics, this pub is brilliant for a relaxing meal.

Anderby Creek

Anderby Creek is another great beach to visit if you want a relaxing time. This beach isn’t far from Chapel St. Leonards either! It’s a long stretch of unspoiled beach with lots of sand dunes to explore. If you enjoy exploring but also want to still experience the beach, then this is perfect for you.

Alongside that, there is a small village behind the beach that has cafes and a shop. On the beach side, there is a beach cafe where you can get a few light bites and enjoy a cold drink near the sea. Anderby Creek is also great to have picnics on, as long as it isn’t too windy. Take the kids and a lovely picnic and enjoy the fresh, salty sea air and the sand between your toes.

Cloud Bar

Another really interesting thing to do is visit the cloud bar. This is also on Anderby Creek. Now this isn’t a normal bar, where you can buy drinks, this is a raised platform with some sky mirrors where you can watch the clouds from. The platform was installed by the Cloud Appreciation Society and acts similar to how hides work for bird watching. This is just a quirky little thing that you might want to stop and do while at Anderby Creek. Where you can literally watch the world pass you by.

North Sea Observatory

Located at Chapel Point near Chapel St. Leonards, the North Sea Observatory is a great place to visit for a day out. The observatory is open year-round and was purposefully built for marine observation. It has an art space where you can see local work as well as a cafe. The Seascape Cafe holds morning and evening events. This is a great place to visit with or without the kids, you get to experience marine life and see brilliant views of the North Sea.

Orchard Farm Equestrian

If you love horses or want to ride one for the first time, then going to Orchard Farm Equestrian is for you! This riding centre offers a range of services all year round. They offer one-off rides, such as family rides. If you’re more of an experienced rider, you can benefit from their beach ride.
